NWSC out-sources water bill collection services further.

Water bills can now be cleared from any Equity Bank branch in Uganda. National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Equity Bank to enable the general public to pay their water bills at no cost.
Speaking to journalists during the signing, the Managing Director of NWSC, William Muhairwe said this was a stepping stone in NWSC continued effort to improve services offered to their clients.
Dr Muhairwe added that the new facility will simplify and make payment of water bills convenient for its clients and do away with queues, which are usually time wasting. The Managing Director of Equity Bank, Charles Nalyaali, said the payment of water bills can be done irrespective of whether the customer has a bank account with Equity or not.
According to a press state ment, payments can be made through direct debit, where payment can be debited from payer's account and their NWSC account is credited immediately and also and through payment over the counter with no limit to the number of times payments can be made. This allows for installment payments.
“For those customers of NWSC who find difficulties in paying their water bills, we have a loan facility from which they can borrow money and pay their bills," Mr. Nalyaali said adding that Equity bank has established a branch network of 36 branches with a spread of 30 ATMs.
Stanbic Bank, Centenary Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays Bank, Dfcu, Bank of Africa and Diamond Trust Bank among others are also in partnership with NWSC in receiving water
bills.
However, bills can also be cleared from the NWSC premises in the various Areas of operation country wide over the counter. National Water and Sewerage Corporation is a government-owned utility operating and providing water and sewerage services in the larger urban centres of Uganda. It operates in over 20 urban centres in Uganda.
