How to Guard Against Water Leakages at your premises to avoid high bills
National Water & Sewerage Corporation by law and Policy charges for water supplied monthly according to the readings captured to the water meter at the customers' premises.
Bills that will arise out of likeages after the meter will be paid by the customer & NWSC will not be obliged to write off any charges.
- Our dear customers, control Water Leakages after the meter & avoid paying high bills
- High water bills on your property could be as a result of water leakages after the meter point
Step by step Approach on how to detect a leakage
- Close all your taps
- Close the tanks inlet and any other inlets
*If the meter continues to move you probably have a leakage
How to Undertake a spot check
- Check that internal taps/pipes are not leaking (small drops over time translated into millions)
- Check that the toilet cisterns are not leaking
- Check that your meter is not running even when your tap is closed
If none of the above is noticed when you probably have an underground leakage.
Contact NWSC on our Toll Free help Line 0800100977 or your nearest Water branch office for professional advice.
Water saving tips
- Check every faucet for leaks. Just a slow drip can waste 15 - 20 gallons a day.
- Make sure your faucets and standpipes are turned off immediately after use.
- Report any leaks you see in the streets as soon as possible.
- Don't shower too long or over fill the tub when bathing.
- Remember
not to leave the water running for tooth brushing, hand washing,
vegetable cleaning or dish washing. Use only what is required and turn
off.
- Don't use the toilet as a trashcan to flush away tissues, papers etc. every flush uses 2-3 jerry cans of water.
- If you are washing a car, use a bucket and not a horse pipe.
- Contact your Area Managers if not satisfied with services received.
