Greater Bushenyi Area last week witnessed National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) fulfil its pledge to ensure water for all as the corporation’s Managing Director, Dr Eng. Silver Mugisha commissioned Public Stand Pipes (PSPs in the sub-counties of Ruhumuro and Nyabubare last week.

Present to witness this milestone were; the District Chairman Bushenyi-Hajji Jafari Basajabalaba, DISO-Mr. John Sewanyana who represented the RDC, LC5 councillors, LC3 chairpersons of the said sub-counties, residents and National Water Staff.

The local residents expressed their amazement and utter gratitude with some stating that they had never dreamt of piped water in their hilly and remote areas. Several women choirs sung and danced with excitement praising NWSC and the MD for caring about the villagers and providing safe and clean water to them.

They did not stop at singing but also brought a variety of gifts and handed them to the Dr Eng. Mugisha. The gifts included goats, chicken, millet (emishenga), baskets from where he'll eat the millet (endiiro) , fruits, Bunches of Matooke to mention but a few.  The PSPs were strategically placed at Central positions thus; at Karama Church of Uganda where there is also a UPE school and a nearby trading centre in Ruhumuro sub-county, Nyabubare Health centre and Nyabubare Senior Secondary School.

The local leaders thanked Dr Eng. Mujgisha for helping them fulfill their manifestos which were characterized by pledges to bring water to their electorates. Dr Eng. Mugisha called upon the residents to work with the Area office if they wanted to extend water to their villages. He thanked the Area Manager Eng. Francis Kateeba and his team for the good work so far done in extending water services to the communities.
