MBARARA TO GET WATER SUPPLY BREAKTHROUGH FROM RIVER KAGERA

Following the unreliability of water supply of River Rwizi that often dries up during the dry season interrupting the water supply in Mbarara and surrounding areas, NWSC has found a solution to the problem.

NWSC is completing designs to draw water from River Kagera to Mbarara and the surrounding areas. Over 40,000 cubic meters of water will be produced per day to mitigate the supply challenges as confirmed by the NWSC Managing Director, Dr Eng. Silver Mugisha last week.

On challenges of non-revenue water, Eng. Mugisha encouraged the continuity of security team and encouraged more vigilance. He also took keen interest on the Issue of environmental protection sighting environmental degradation as the biggest threat. He encouraged members to sensitize the public, plant trees, and also balance activities on our natural resources.

In regard to staff capacities, some staff are theorists, they lack enough practical skills and lately we rely on a few staff for some complex tasks. Eng. Mugisha noted that mere data entry staff will henceforth have no room in the corporation and advised staff to be serious on vocational training with the intension of sharpening their skills. He also highlighted the need to propose to the board that staff promotions should be based on practical skills.
